Solar Panel Servicing,
Maintenance & Repair

What's included in a service?

  • Visual inspection of the system (all electrical hardware and cabling) and check for any insurable damage

  • Visual inspection of panels using a drone to determine the condition of panels (dirt and damage)

  • Complete electrical testing of the solar panels and strings (DC electrical installation test)

  • Complete electrical testing of the inverters, isolators, and protective devices (AC electrical installation test and inspection)

  • Advice on whether your solar array would benefit from being cleaned and a quotation if required

  • Service report detailing system status and any possible remedial work

Why solar panel servicing and maintenance is important

Maintaining your solar panel system is crucial to ensure it operates safely, efficiently, and effectively. Regular servicing offers numerous benefits:

âžœ Safety: Regular inspections help identify and address potential hazards, ensuring your solar system is safe and compliant with industry standards.

âžœ Optimal Performance: Servicing ensures your system performs at its best, maximizing energy output and increasing your return on investment.

âžœ Longevity: Routine maintenance helps extend the lifespan of your solar panels and components, protecting your investment for the long term.

âžœ Debris and Nesting Prevention: Our technicians check for and remove debris, leaves, and nests that can accumulate under panels, preventing blockages and damage.

âžœ Inverter Check: Inverters are the heart of your solar system. Regular checks help detect and fix any faults early, ensuring efficient energy conversion.

âžœ Panel Inspection: We inspect for damaged or cracked panels, which can reduce efficiency and pose safety risks. Prompt repairs or replacements keep your system running smoothly.

Tips for checking your panels are in good condition:

  • Generation reading: A very easy way of assessing the condition of your panels is from the generation meter reading. If it is similar to the estimation in your handbook, then everything is working fine.

  • Check the panels: If accessible, then a simple glance at your panels can tell you if there is any surface debris like moss or lichen build-up. If the panels aren’t clean, then this can reduce the power output.

Getting the most out of your Solar PV System

There are a number of things that can link to your solar PV system to help get the most out of it. Some of these things include:

  • Solar hot water diverter

A hot water diverter looks for excess solar energy and will harness this energy to carry out certain tasks such as filling the hot water tank. This not only helps to use the excess but also cut down your usage of Gas or Oil.

  • Battery Storage Systems

Battery storage systems can operate with existing systems that are already installed to harness more from the solar. This is known as an AC coupled system. They can also be installed as part of a new solar PV systems where the solar inverter also controls the batteries. This is known as a hybrid system.

Battery storage systems help to store any excess solar during the day to be used at night. In the winter they can also be charged through the night on a low-rate tariff and discharged throughout the day when rates are high.

  • Bird Protection

Another thing to consider when installing a Solar PV system is birds nesting under the panels. If you live in a remote area, then it's worth considering having bird protection installed to help keep the birds from nesting under the system.
